Event: Singapore Street Festival: DJ Party 2007,
Jrock / Cosplay Event
Location: Youth Park, Orchard
Date: 2-3 June 2006
Report by: Tim Wong
Entourage: Tim Wong, Teo Lingnah, Roy Toh, Wilson Tan
As promised, here's the entry that I finally have time to blog about. An event that I constantly look forward to is Street Festival / DJ Party, which is normally held in June. I thought it was more lively last year, and I think the primary reason is because they spread this year's over 2 days. As a result, day 1 was pretty empty as compared to the 2nd day's crowd.
Nevertheless, people like Ling, Roy and Wilson made it happen, and we managed to go down together. I thought day 1 was a little disappointing; thankfully, day 2 made up for it.
Alright, as usual, I'll write more as I post pictures. This is an insanely long and picture heavy entry.
Day 1: One of the bands performing.

Day 1: Group picture with Kaori (left), Dawn and Shaoyang. I think this is probably my favourite picture among all taken in the 2 days. Pretty lolitas with nice dresses are hard to find these days. Thanks to the girls who posed for this picture!
Day 1: The crowd.
Day 1: Last picture (yes, only 4) for Day 1. I saw her on both days, but I still asked for a picture of her since she was already here. Very polite; she bowed and thanked me when I thanked her for a picture.
Day 2 pictures start from here.

I think these girls are really very young!
Yuanyuan: Athena from KOF / Maximum Impact. No wonder I couldn't recognize this version of Athena as I didn't play this, even though I played almost all the KOF's.
A popular subject of photography. I saw a lot of people chasing her for pictures.
I like Cloud's hair.
Matantei Loki!
Evelynn, one of my friends that I made last year. She was the lolita I pulled out for a shot at DJ Party '06.

Inuran. Nice pose.

That mask is very well made.

They were performing Aya Hirano's "God Bless"; one of my favourite songs, so I took a picture. Initially was walking over to Cine to get a drink, but I turned back after hearing this.

I love giant sleeves. They are pretty.

AngelDecay declined for a shot on Day 1, but I got one from her on Day 2. She is erm, quite tao. I think Wilson likes her. Speaking of being declined, I saw Eden and talked to her a bit. She declined me for a shot also. (Chinese [in a nice tone]) "Today, I won't allow you to take my picture." I think it was because she was in casual punk.
I also spotted Abi on Day 1, but I missed the chance to take pictures with/together with her as well.

I had to hunt her down for a shot... she was walking around very hurriedly.

Isabelle (was it?) and Evelynn. Need Kaori/Shaoyang to verify.
.jpg)
Evelynn had to leave early, so I grabbed her for shot before she did. I think I still prefer my day 1's outfit.
.jpg)
Got to admire her resistance to the heat in that costume. It must be tiring.

Spotted Shaoyang and went to say hello. She was kinda shocked when I asked for a picture of both of them. Shaoyang, you have pretty curls!

Ah ha! This picture has a lot of stories. Roy was actually looking for the girl (left with mask) for a picture, so finally when he saw her, he asked so I also went to snap a shot...
.jpg)
Then after I shot the picture, the girl on the right came over and said cheekly to me, "You like her (left) a lot, is it?" I think she noticed us asking and taking pictures of them more than once. It was so embarrassing! She later told us that it's a fashion in Japan.
I'm innocent! I just happened to be taking pictures with Roy. -_-
But I did wanted to pull the girl on the left for a shot together after that, but I didn't get a chance. I thought that her hair clips were really amusing.

She looks really familiar...

Ling misfired this, but it looks awesome.

Wilson, Roy and myself. Roy looks so stiff.

Me and Ling.

Yuanyuan and myself.

She was shocked when I asked her for a picture. "Errmm.., me?" ^^

Shot of the crowd before I left.

Red Wasabi. The vocalist is good. But hey, the organizer, JuN is the bassist for this band.
All and all, I want to thank everyone for giving me permission to take pictures to remember this event, as well as to my party who took the time to travel, eat and enjoy the event with me. Kudos also to Roy who walked around with me asking people for pictures.
It was also a joy to see some old friends and familiar faces there.
It was also a pity that people like Yun, Hui, Rhiannon and Jingna were not there. They were the 1st few friends that I got to know from Street Festival.
Thank God I went back on Day 2.
I'm glad it was a blast.
