Event: EOY2005, Cosplay
Location: Singapore Expo Hall 6
Date: 10 Dec 2005
Report by: Tim Wong
The EOY2005 cosplay event was held at the Singapore Expo, and it
was certainly larger than last year. I see a lot of better costumes
than last year, and some of them were totally amazing. It's amazing
how much time, effort and money these cosplayers put in. It's also
really encouraging to see the cosplay community growing bigger by
each year.
I put hard work in my outfit too, and I spent like almost a whole
day to make my necklace. I got the design inspiration from a Black
Peace Now necklace, and modified it a little. I didn't know it can
be so difficult to make necklaces. I spent quite a lot of money
on my accessories and clothes too. I'm as guilty as the cosplayers.
Oh well.
Anyway, I took about 200+ pictures, thanks to my trusty good servant,
the 512MB CF card. I seriously didn't know taking pictures can be
so tiring, but it sure was lots of fun. I have selected the better
pictures out, and reduced the pictures so as to make loading easier.
I'm bias, so there's a little more gothic lolita pictures. Here
we go:
Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children.

Kon from Bleach.
.jpg)
That's Yun and myself, with Yun in punk lolita form.
.jpg)
This was probably one of the best looking Tifas around; Hao's favourite.
.jpg)
She has the same Haro as my girlfriend's... those are limited edition
Haro's which are very expensive. I've noticed that this girl loves
to cosplay as Lacus, and a lot of photographers like her. I especially
like the pink fan that she carries.
.jpg)
This is cool. FF7 Advent Children.
.jpg)
2 cute lolitas that we saw much earlier on, but they left pretty
early.
.jpg)
Ah, this is cute too.
.jpg)
This is my friend, Yuanyuan! I almost couldn't recognize her!
.jpg)
Another one of my friends, KuroKaze. She's into the lolita scene.
.jpg)
Nice scepter with a bell attached that goes 'ding ding' when she
walks around. Cute.
.jpg)
Another one of Hao's fav. Her costume is very nice.
.jpg)
She reminds me of someone that I know, but I just cannot recall
who. Very highly detailed costume.
.jpg)
Sousei Seki (I think, as was it Suisei Seki?) from Rozen Maiden.
I always confuse the 2 names up. Very friendly girl with a very
well made costume.
.jpg)
Queen Esther from Trinity Blood. Highlight of the day with a very
beautiful and elaborate costume.
.jpg)
4 of my friends from Black Parasol. From left, Rhiannon, Wenhui,
Yun and Jessica. They make and sell Gothic & Lolita stuff.
.jpg)
The dollfies that you see here are like US$600+ each. My goodness.
.jpg)
Naruto cosplay has dropped a lot since the previous convention,
and I think this was done by a female.
.jpg)
Crowd sometime around 3+ pm.
.jpg)
My 2 buddies: Hao and Roy.
.jpg)
That's me and Hao. I like this picture. Bokutachi wa Kyodai desukara...
.jpg)
Correct me if I'm wrong, is that Rosette from Chrno Crusade?
.jpg)
Super old school. Super Mario Bros. Pure nostalgia.
.jpg)
One of my favourite lolitas of the day. She also opened a booth
at the convention. She's also the owner of HaRu, a shop in Singapore
that sells lolita-inspired stuff.
.jpg)
Jingnah and her friend. Yay! Real cool to see her again. She sells
a lot of beautiful Alchemy Gothic pendants and stuff.
.jpg)
I think I saw her during the Street Festival in June 2005.
.jpg)
Crowd at about 4:30 pm.
.jpg)
Lol. My goodness this is a guy. I got to respect his courage man.
He/She won one of the special appearance award. Totally cool.
.jpg)
Xiaoyin (if I remember correctly) from Card Captor. I like her eyeliner
and hairdo.
.jpg)
Julia aka Yoko. A LOT of cameras were pointing at her. And she sure
knows how to pose well. I hardly ever talk to her, so I doubt she
remembers me.
.jpg)
Rozen Maiden. Nice doll anime. That's Freya (from Chobits) in black
though.
.jpg)
Tsubasa Chronicle. Sakura is Roy's fav.
.jpg)
Another one of Roy's fav (girl with flute). I forgot the name of
the character though; only can recall that she's one of Orochimaru's
followers in Naruto.
.jpg)
Below are pictures taken with various lolitas/cosplayers. Shouldn't
miss this in a convention since it's rare to see them prancing on
the streets.
.jpg)
This is stolen from Hao's camera. Notice the colour from our cameras
are a little different? I think it's because his flash is stronger
than mine, which could also be the reason why his lags so much after
each take.

Another lolita that we manage to get for a shot.

That's the end! I have more pictures, but if I add everything
in, this report will never be completed. Kudos to Hao for accompanying
me throughout the event. Thanks also to Roy, who so sacrificially
bought Kit Kat and took batteries for us.
I'm already looking forward to the next event.
See you all next time! |
